Motor City Comic Con

If anyone is headed to Motor City Comic Con in Detroit today, I will be helping the very talented Katie Cook at her booth! Although I won’t have any of my work available for sale, make sure to stop by and say hi (and maybe get a special coupon for use in my Etsy shop!)

Shoutout to fit51391 on Deviant Art for the awesome Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs silhouette art!
Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs by ~fit51391

Sony Animation just shared my Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs silhouettes from my DeviantArt page! It’s honestly one of my favorite animated films of all time and it was such fun to make a little tribute to the movie. And if you’ve somehow managed to devoid yourself of the fun that is this film, drop everything and watch it right now!

(And this CWACOM 2 gif is very appropriate for how I feel right now via neondragonfly) High-res

Where has this semester gone?

Hi all,

Sorry for the lack of updates! Heading into final exams is never easy and this semester is no exception. After the 22nd I will be back to posting some small pieces I’ve been working on.

In the meantime, I may also post a few work-in-progress images if people are interested. Leave me a message if you’d like to see some of my behind-the-scenes stuff!

Happy Spring!
Now that it’s finally getting warmer in Ann Arbor (and with Easter coming up this weekend), I decided to post this little guy who has been sitting on my desk for a few weeks. This piece started as a tiny little sketch in one of my school notebooks before I decided to beef it up into a full illustration. This piece has several different kinds of paper, as well as watercolor and goache details and some post-processing in Photoshop to get it ready for print.
Besides the original (which will be up sometime this weekend), this design is also available as note cards! You can check them out in my Etsy shop. High-res

BBC Sherlock Cookies!

An order I had this week, for a Sherlock Holmes club. There were 2 dozen of these homies, so there are a few designs; Like John’s sweater and Sherlock’s purple shirt of sex, British flags, their door and more.

I always love to see when my silhouette pops up in other places, especially when those places look so delicious! Ant (over at nerdache-cakes) used my Sherlock silhouettes as designs on her beautiful cookies. YUM!

The Giver by Lois Lowry
For my American Adolescence class we were asked to select from a number of topics for a presentation on one of our books for the semester. I jumped on the art option (since how often do you get to make art for English courses?) for my presentation on The Giver and made a paper illustration featuring a number of important passages from the text. Each element of the illustration went along with an aspect of my presentation and specific themes I touched upon in my analysis.
Overall, this was one of my quicker pieces and I only spent 7 hours on the design and execution (including a lot of procrastination breaks!)
Bonus points for anyone who can identify the specific scenes included in the image! High-res
